BC: Lottery Corp Spent $158.8 Million on Advertising since 2010

The BC Lottery Corporation loves to spend money promoting, well, the BC Lottery Corporation. As you may recall, earlier this spring, the CTF unearthed (through Freedom of Information Act requests) documents showing the Lottery Corp has lost $543,642 in four years on its Responsible Gaming conferences.

On the heels of that FOI find, the CTF asked the Lottery Corporation for its advertising spending, by year, since 2010. That FOI arrived yesterday:

  • 2010/11 - $29.5M
  • 2011/12 - $31.6M
  • 2012/13 - $28.3M
  • 2013/14 - $24.7M
  • 2014/15 - $18.8M
  • 2015/16 - $25.9M

That’s a six-year total of $158.8 million spent by the Lottery Corp on marketing and advertising.

The FOI can be seen HERE.
