NS: Dalhousie University Blows Big Bucks While Crying Poor

Dalhousie like many other universities are constantly crying poor, saying they need more taxpayer dollars. But new figures obtained by the CTF throught the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act shows Dalhousie may not be managing the funds they already get very well.

The university spent $380,327 on public releations advice from a company called National Public Relations to manage a scandal in their Faculty of Dentistry. Some of the expenses included:

- $13,000 for coaching university employees - faculty and staff on what to say if asked about the dentistry issue

- Thousands on media monitoring

- Over $10,000 hiring a Toronto based consultant at $450/hr to prepare the universty President for one interview with the CBC show 5th Estate. The 5th Estate inteview never happened.

You see a full report on all the costs on CTV HERE
