Board Members

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation’s board of directors is a volunteer body that monitors and maintains the integrity of the organization’s mission, conduct, strategic planning and finances. Each year the board approves goals and tactics and a budget. The board is not involved in the day to day operation of the organization. Board members are prohibited from holding a membership in any political party. As the governing body of a not for profit, the board is charged with upholding provisions of the Canada Corporations Act.

 

Michael Binnion

He has been integral in developing one of the first moveable wall systems, pioneering on-line government services, establishing the first western company in the Republic of Georgia after the civil war, developing smart grid technology, and most recently,  making a shale gas discovery in Quebec.

Erin Chutter

Erin Chutter is the President and Founder of Puget Ventures Inc., a publicly traded mineral exploration company, active in Ontario's base metals exploration.  She is also a founder and director of two private companies.

Active in politics since the late 1980s, Erin has managed and advised campaigns at three levels of government and party leadership races.  She has also served on the staff of federal and provincial ministers and leaders.  

Karen Selick

Karen Selick was born in Ontario and has spent most of her life there. Karen Selick is a lawyer with more than two decades in private practice handling matrimonial law, wills, estates and small business legal issues. Karen is currently the Litigation Director for the Canadian Constitution Foundation where she oversees court challenges aimed at reducing state power and winning greater individual freedom for Canadians. 

Paul Pagnuelo

Paul was born in Montreal and lives in Ontario. Now retired, he had a distinguished career with Bank of Montreal (BMO) Financial Group.  During his 43 years with BMO, Paul worked in a number of disciplines ranging from branch, divisional and credit administration, to credit and risk management policy, legislation and government affairs and payments system policy."

John Mortimer

John is the president of the Canadian LabourWatch Association, an organization dedicated to helping employees make informed choices about unionization. His management consulting practice specializes in transitions, turnarounds and maintaining or achieving union-free status in accordance with employee wishes. John’s columns on employees' right to make free choices about unionization appear regularly in publications across Canada.  He is a speaker at conferences and company events in Canada and the U.S.

Andy Crooks

Andy lives in Calgary, Alberta and is the longest serving director on the CTF board.

He is a prominent Calgary Lawyer, and has for 25 years partnered with his wife and a venture capital investing firm, RichCrooks Enterprises Ltd. He has been active in politics and public policy for over three decades.
