August 08, 2007REGINA: After five years as the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) Saskatchewan director, David MacLean has announced his resignation.
David is leaving the CTF to take a position with an Alberta utility company.
CTF to government: Prepare back-to-work legislation
June 26, 2007REGINA: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is calling on the Saskatchewan government to prepare to legislate Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan (HSAS) employees back to work in the event of a full-scale strike.
On Monday, HSAS, which represents 2,700 unionized health-care workers, served 48-hour strike notice on Saskatchewan's 12 health regions and the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency. HSAS represents social workers, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, psychologists, paramedics, occupational therapists and trained addiction counselors.
CTF blasts biofuel handouts
June 12, 2007The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is calling on the Saskatchewan government to scrap an $80 million program to subsidize production of biofuels.
The program, dubbed SaskBIO by the government, will distribute tax dollars to businesses, partnerships and cooperatives to develop ethanol and biodiesel production plants.
CTF to Minister Higgins: Give rural communities a choice

CTF: Hagel must resign
April 29, 2007The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is calling for the resignation of MLA Glenn Hagel in light of recent revelations about the theft of public money in 1992 .
The documents recently made public and widely covered by media clearly illustrate an effort to conceal the theft of roughly $6,000 by an NDP caucus employee. It is evident that Minister Hagel had knowledge of the theft in 1992 and failed to notify authorities.
Budget 2007: NDP breaking the bank
March 21, 2007REGINA: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is blasting Saskatchewan's 2007 budget for spending $700 million more than it collects in revenues. This will be the fourth deficit recorded by this government since Premier Calvert took office six years ago.
Spending is up nine per cent over last year and nearly 40 per cent since 2001.
CTF to Thomson: Keep your hands off the fiscal stabilization fund
February 26, 2007REGINA: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is blasting Finance Minister Andrew Thomson for spending the province's fiscal stabilization fund (FSF) when government tax revenues have never been better.
In the February 27 edition of the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, Thomson is quoted saying the FSF will be drawn down by "several hundreds of millions of dollars in the  budget." The FSF was established to serve as a "rainy day fund" by off-setting sudden revenue drops due to economic downturns.
