Taxpayers Federation applauds Conservative universal tax cut pledge
OTTAWA, ON: Canadian Taxpayers Federation Federal Director Aaron Wudrick released the following statement in response to the Conservative Party of Canada’s campaign pledge to cut the lowest income tax bracket from 15 per cent to 13.75 per cent:
“Canadians need broad-based tax relief, and taxpayers strongly applaud this Conservative pledge to cut income taxes and save Canadians billions.
“This income tax cut is exactly what taxpayers need: it would save Canadian families about $850 a year.
“Affordability is a key issue in this election campaign, and leaving billions in the pockets of Canadian taxpayers is a great policy.
“In this election campaign, most proposed tax measures have been complex, boutique policies that would further clutter up the tax code.
“Taxpayers want to see broad-based tax cuts from all parties during this campaign.”
