HALIFAX, NS: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) announced some changes in staff roles for Atlantic Canada today. After helping launch our Atlantic office in 2010, Kevin Lacey has decided to depart the CTF. Kevin is being replaced by our Alberta Director Paige MacPherson, who will be moving back to Nova Scotia following her maternity leave.

“When we decided to open an Atlantic office, we knew the only person that would be able to pull it off for us was Kevin Lacey,” said CTF President Troy Lanigan. “He’s made a big impact in the region. Thanks to his leadership the CTF was able to get movement on politician pension reform in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, expose the ridiculous spending on the Bluenose II project, earn a precedent-setting victory that made the Irving Shipbuilding contract public, and so much more. He leaves big shoes to fill.”

Paige and her husband Allan, a born-and-raised Cape Bretoner, are excited to make the move with their family back home to Nova Scotia. Paige’s family is also from Cape Breton. Paige graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax. She previously worked for the Atlantic Institute for Market Studies, and covered provincial elections in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick as a reporter.

“Paige is a perfect fit to take over for Kevin,” said CTF Vice President, Communications, Scott Hennig. “Her experience here in Alberta has made her a seasoned taxpayer watchdog, and her time and roots in Atlantic Canada will allow her to hit the ground running this fall.”

“Every Atlantic Canadian wants more opportunity for young people to move back home. Kevin’s work opened the doors to the big, challenging discussions that are critical to the success of the region,” said incoming CTF Atlantic Director Paige MacPherson. “With the guidance of our supporters, I’m looking forward to continuing those discussions and fighting for accountability and more economic opportunities for the region.”

Kevin’s last day is today, January 31st. Paige will begin actively working as the Atlantic Director following the conclusion of her maternity leave in September 2018.
