AB: Scrap the Alberta Carbon Tax

To Alberta Premier Rachel Notley and Environment Minister Shannon Phillips:

Alberta’s carbon tax is an unfair hit to Alberta’s families, businesses and rural communities.

The carbon tax is having a real and negative impact on many families by increasing the price to heat homes, visit family members, buy groceries and many other goods and services. The carbon tax has been estimated to cost the average family roughly $600. While the government is rebating some of the cost back, 40 per cent of households pay the full price of the tax. Albertans living in rural communities are being hit especially hard as driving is a necessity.

The carbon tax is having a negative impact for many entrepreneurs across the province, especially those running small businesses. The carbon tax means less money for a business to expand operations, hire more workers and grow the economy.

We the undersigned call on the Alberta government to scrap the carbon tax.

You have the power to change who influences politics in our country: big unions, big corporations and government-funded special interest groups can be challenged by the contributions of thousands of individual taxpayers who care to make a difference.
