CAREER OPPORTUNITY: MEDIA AND RESEARCH COORDINATOR

If you want to produce the best social media content in Canada and dig up government waste stories that land on the front pages, then you need to apply now.

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is hiring a full-time Media and Research Coordinator to help produce our in-house media and assist with the research that will be used to testify in parliamentary committees, published in national newspapers and seen on TV.

If you get the job, you will work directly with the CTF’s Federal Director Franco Terrazzano in Ottawa to hold big spending federal politicians and bureaucrats accountable.

Media responsibilities:

  • Create memes and graphics for CTF social media
  • Film and edit videos
  • Assist with script writing
  • Assist with joke writing, visuals and presentation for the CTF’s annual Teddy Waste Awards
  • Assist with press conferences, including filming, preparing visuals, coordinating media and being involved with media stunts
  • Clip CTF interviews, podcasts and parliamentary committee testimonies for social media
  • Clip taxpayer news articles and videos to share on social media
  • Help produce CTF social media videos, which includes booking guests, finding news clippings and clipping the final long form video to share on other social media platforms
  • Scan media to help determine which taxpayer issues to advocate on
  • Post news releases and commentaries on the CTF’s website

Research responsibilities:

  • Dig up government waste by filing access-to-information requests
  • Dive through government reports to find important data to use in news releases, social media videos and newspaper columns
  • Produce research and briefing notes for parliamentary committee testimonies, media interviews, columns and videos
  • Assist with producing CTF annual reports, including New Year’s Tax Changes and the Gas Honesty Report

General responsibilities:

  • Supporting the CTF’s Federal Director as priorities change

Job Opportunity: Summer Internship

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is hiring two summer interns to work closely with our
communications directors over the summer (May-Aug).

The CTF internship program is not endless coffee runs and door knocking.

Interns help on real projects and learn valuable career skills along the way. As an intern you will
learn how to obtain important government documents via access to information requests, see
your research being used by CTF directors in media interviews, and discover the behind-the-
scenes process of taxpayer advocacy.
