99 Really Stupid Things the Government Did With Your Money

Author: 2012/01/09

Maclean’s magazine is out with a new cover story – 99 Really Stupid Things the Government Did With Your Money. Canadian Taxpayers Federation staff worked with Maclean’s editors, combing our files for some of the year’s most outrageous examples of government waste, corporate welfare, pork-barrelling, and patronage: crazy spending, ranging from Alberta’s $276,000 iPod touch giveaway at the Vancouver Winter Olympics to Ottawa’s decision to build six new skate-changing shacks for the Rideau Canal winter festival at a cost of $750,000 each. A word of caution, readers: you might not want to go through the entire list of 99 stupid spending stories in one sitting, especially if your family has a history of high blood pressure…
