Here are some stats we'll be referencing during the May 17, 2012, CTF Gas Tax Telephone Town Hall here in B.C.

ANNUAL GAS TAX REVENUE IN B.C.

B.C. TOTALS
Every cent/L across the Province generates approx. $44 million

B.C. Carbon Tax $237.5m
Provincial Taxes $492m
Federal Taxes $440.1m
HST $277.7m
TransLink (Lower Mainland only) $311.8m
BC Transit (Capital Region only) $11.4m

TOTAL $1.77 billion
***Carbon tax take will increase to $284.5m after July 1st, for a total of $1.82 billion

LOWER MAINLAND TOTALS
Every cent/L across the Lower Mainland generates approx. $20.8 million

B.C. Carbon Tax (Calculated at today’s 5.56 cents; becomes 6.67 July 1st) $116.5m
Provincial Taxes (8.5 cents) $176.8m
Federal Taxes (10 cents) $208m
HST (federal portion only 5%) $145.6m
TransLink (Calculated at 15 cents; became 17 cents April 1) $311.8m

TOTAL $958.7m
***TransLink take will increase to $353.4m after April 1st, and carbon tax take will increase to $139.4m after July 1st, for a total of $1.02 billion

Every cent/L across the Capital Region generates approx. $3.25 million

B.C. Carbon Tax (Calculated at today’s 5.56 cents; becomes 6.67 July 1st) $18.1m
Provincial Taxes (14.5 cents) $47.1m
Federal Taxes (10 cents) $32.5m
HST (federal portion only 5%) $21.1m
BC Transit (3.5 cents per litre) $11.4m

TOTAL $130.2 million
***Carbon tax take will increase to $21.7m after July 1st, for a total of $133.8m

Every cent/L across the Province (except in Lower Mainland and Capital Region) generates approx. $18.5 million

B.C. Carbon Tax (Calculated at today’s 5.56 cents; becomes 6.67 July 1st) $102.9m
Provincial Taxes (14.5 cents) $268.1m
Federal Taxes (10 cents) $185m
HST (federal portion only 5%) $111m

TOTAL $667 million
***Carbon tax take will increase to $123.4m after July 1st, for a total of $687.5 million
