It’s annual report/financial statement/statement of financial information season for British Columbia government agencies – both local and provincial. The B.C. office often gets calls from taxpayers trying to discern what those statements are all about.
This year, the B.C. Auditor General is looking to help. The AG has just released a new report, Understanding Canadian Public Sector Financial Statements, a one-stop guide explaining how governments report out financial information. It even includes questions readers should be asking.
It’s a good guide, and well worth a look.
