NS Provincial Employees Paid to “Volunteer” at Canada Winter Games

A freedom of information request by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation shows Nova Scotia provincial employees were paid to “volunteer” at the Canada Winter Games held in Halifax, February 2011.

Previous reports showed that upwards of 135 Halifax City staff were paid to volunteer. Now information obtained by CTF shows that another 37 employees from the province also were either paid or took a combination of paid leave and vacation time.
