- CTF to Release Major Analysis of ACOA Funding Activities -

OTTAWA: Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) federal director Walter Robinson will release a report which analyzes ten years of funding activities by ACOA, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, on Tuesday, May 9th.

The report is entitled The Lost Decade: 10 Years of ACOA.

The report's analysis includes year-by-year breakdowns of types of funding activities, lists of "interesting" recipients, loan write-offs, regional bankruptcy statistics and classes of funding recipients, amongst other revelations.

"Regional development agencies are supposed to create jobs and expand economic opportunities, but our research doesn't bear this out," noted Robinson. "Once this data is released, I suspect taxpayers will have plenty of questions for the Minister and ACOA officials."

Date: Tuesday, May 9, 2000.

Time: 9:30 am EST (subject to change, please confirm with CTF office)

Place: Charles Lynch Press Conference Room
Room 130-S, Centre Block
