Tomorrow is Gas Tax Honesty Day

Author: Lee Harding 2010/05/19

Tomorrow, May 20, the CTF will be marking Gas Tax Honesty Day across the country. The purpose is to show Canadians just how much of the pump price is tax. And, in some instances, the CTF refunds those dollars to a few lucky motorists to illustrate what that really means.

The event garnered media coverage across Canada last year, and in one instance was accompanied by a petition presentation. Saskatchewan's 15 cent per litre provincial gas tax is highest on the prairies, and the CTF petition called for a reduction.

In Alberta, a petition was launched calling on the province to not introduce any new taxes. The move succeeded.

Below are a few pictures and articles. At left is a video compilation of television coverage for the 2009 event from BC, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Saskatchewan.
