To the Premier,
Business owners in British Columbia work hard to provide great jobs to their employees and excellent services for their customers.
The “best use” method of commercial property taxation is killing businesses and driving tenants out of their commercial buildings.
This method punishes businesses such as restaurants, corner stores and garages for not being condo towers.
It is unfair for commercial property owners and businesses to be taxed on an imagined “best use” of their buildings, rather than what the buildings actually are.
We, the undersigned, call on the premier to eliminate the “best use” practise for property assessment and taxation in the province of B.C.
