REACTION: Legault right to reject vaccine tax

Author: 2022/02/01

MONTREAL, QC: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation praised the government of Quebec for rejecting a vaccine tax.

“It takes a humble man to admit being wrong, and Premier François Legault certainly has shown his humble side and did the right thing today,” said CTF Quebec Director Renaud Brossard. “The vaccine tax would have opened a whole Pandora’s box for new health-based taxes and taxpayers are thankful it will remain closed.”

The application of the vaccine tax would have involved granting Revenu Québec the right to access Quebecers’ confidential health records.

On average, two thirds of all sanctions given to Revenu Québec employees are due to misconducts with data privacy, according to information obtained by La Presse two years ago.
